How Much Power Does an LED Wall Consume?
One of the most common questions asked during an LED display project is: how much power will the display actually use?
The answer depends on several factors, including display size, pixel pitch, brightness settings, content type and the efficiency of the underlying technology.
Many manufacturers publish maximum power consumption figures. While these numbers are useful for electrical planning, they rarely reflect real-world operation. Most LED displays spend the majority of their time running at significantly lower brightness levels and displaying dynamic content rather than full-white brightness.
A more meaningful metric is average power consumption. Depending on the application, this can be anywhere from 30% to 70% lower than the published maximum rating.
