The SL6109 is a high power dual four-channel laser driver that provides controlled current to two grounded laser diodes.
The OUTSEL pin selects LD1 or LD2 pin active to drive either CD or DVD laser diode.
The level of the output current is determined by the voltages supplying on RSET, W1SET, W2SET and W3SET.
The channel enable pin at RDIS/WxDIS determine current waveform timing. The output write current pulses are enabled when a low is applied to RDIS and WxDIS with switching speed less than 1 ns rise/fall time.
Two on-chip oscillators can provide up to 500MHz modulation to the output current. Pin OSCEN is held high to turn on the oscillators. Each oscillator’s amplitude and frequency is set by an external resistor connected to ground from AADJ1 or AADJ2. And frequency is set from FADJ1 or FADJ2.
The total output current is the sum of current from the four charnels and the oscillator. LD1or LD2 is enabled when OUTSEL is high or low respectively.
There is a whole chip enable pin ENBL needed to be high. And complete LD shut-off is achieved by holding ENBL low.
The SL6109A2 is available in small Pb-free QFN 24-pin 4x4mm package.
